JOB DESCRIPTION
Fleetway's Technical Publications team is leading the development of cutting-edge documentation for the next generation of Royal Canadian Navy ships. We offer a modern, collaborative environment that leverages advanced technology to produce high-quality technical publications.
As a Senior Technical Publications Specialist, you'll play a key leadership role in guiding the creation of S1000D-compliant technical manuals in Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) format. Working closely with subject matter experts, you'll apply your deep knowledge of the S1000D specification and technical publication best practices to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of our documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and expert guidance in the development of technical publications, supporting team members and ensuring best practices are followed.
- Create and maintain S1000D-compliant technical manuals using a Common Source Database (CSDB), converting XML technical data into Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) following established methodologies.
- Lead the integration of content from various sources-including OEM manuals, Logistics Support Analysis Records (LSAR), and existing S1000D documentation-to produce cohesive and accurate publications.
- Ensure all technical manuals meet quality standards, are logically structured, and align with customer requirements and applicable specifications.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation reflects the most up-to-date and approved system and equipment configurations.
- Contribute to a high-performing team environment, meeting project milestones and deadlines while adhering to departmental procedures and quality processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
Skills & Experience
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience working with the S1000D specification.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical publications or documentation environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly content.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, including engineers, developers, and logistics professionals.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Due to the nature of our work, successful candidates must be eligible to obtain required government security clearances.
