JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Corporate Director of Health, Safety, and Environment we are looking for a HS&E Specialist-Training to lead the development, management, and maturity of Health, Safety & Environment training programs and policies. Responsible for the monitoring, management, and improvement of training compliance and ensuring training effectiveness in reducing risk and driving best practices across the organization.
Other locations may be considered depending on proximity to our operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, coordinate and priority manage the project charters for various safety and training projects/initiatives.
- Ensure the training development and delivery associated with new and existing safety procedures and programs and technical training.
- Regularly audit required safety and training documentation.
- Deliver progress reports and presentations on the various safety projects and training initiatives.
- Manage and report training compliance as part of recurring period reports.
- Perform regular evaluations of training delivery and content to ensure effectiveness, accuracy, and absorption of information.
- Participate in incident investigations to identify training deficiencies or improvement opportunities.
- Stay current with new training tools, methodologies, and technologies to improve training effectiveness and efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of the strategic plan for safety training.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least five years of experience in a health, safety and environment role in manufacturing, food processing, or agriculture.
- Preferably a certified safety professional holding any one of the following designations: CRST, CRSP, CSP, NEBOSH, or equivalent .
- Substantial experience in safety training and project management.
- An established health and safety background with experience conducting incident investigations, hazard assessments, and developing safety training programs would be considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage team members and influence other stakeholders.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Experience using Microsoft products, learning management systems, compliance and incident reporting and tracking systems. Experience with Enhesa, Intelex, and Convergence considered an asset.
- Data management and analytic skills would be a strong asset.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A passion for our business and the well-being of our people.
- Some travel to sites will be required on an as needed basis.
