JOB DESCRIPTION
The Material Management Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials, parts, and assemblies across production and shipping areas. They are responsible for the effective tracking, reporting, and management of inventory to ensure on-time deliveries and minimize disruptions in production. The Material Management Specialist works closely with various teams to align material movements with production schedules, department priorities, and customer requirements, directly contributing to operational efficiency and success.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and ensure the timely movement of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments.
  • Monitor material flow according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities.
  • Ensure just-in-time deliveries to meet production and assembly deadline
  • Manage inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and minimizing stock-outs or excess inventory.
  • Track materials using warehouse management systems (WMS) or other tracking software.
  • Generate and analyze reports on inventory status and material usage, including stock levels, material usage, and forecasts
  • Maintain data accuracy to assist in business operations, cost reduction, and improved material flow.
  • Identify trends and provide insights to improve overall material management practices
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure material needs are met.
  • Communicate any issues regarding material shortages, delays, or other concerns to leadership or relevant departments
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improving material management processes, reducing waste, and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and help implement changes to workflows or systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline (e.g. Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering)
  • 3-5 years of Warehouse, Distribution, Supply Chain, and/or Inventory Management experience
  • Professional Certifications preferred, not required (CITT, SCMP, P.Log, PMP, etc.)
  • Professional knowledge of complex industrial environments and/or defense industry
