JOB DESCRIPTION
A Junior Industrial Engineer designs plans and executes improvements to the processes, tools, workstations, and equipment needed for high quality, efficient ship construction, repair and delivery scope. The Junior Industrial Engineer works independently, problems faced are potentially complex and a scientific methodology is used to analyze it, identify root causes to the problem, test solutions, and standardize successful solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively manage proactive scope of work including developing standardized workstation processes, 5S standards, performance metrics, capacity analysis, total productive maintenance, and overall equipment effectiveness, material flow, and visual management.
  • Author processes and procedures documenting how to stabilize and control processes in ship design, repair, and construction.
  • Identify and action opportunities for Continuous Improvement within Industrial Engineering, ship design, repair, and construction.
  • Identify and manage mitigation plans for risks and change management associated with Industrial Engineering core activities and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement, standardization, and/or mitigation plans and projects, including creative technical problem solving and effective stakeholder management.
  • Research and Development.
  • Change Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge and application of Lean Six Sigma, Change Management, Project Management and maritime regulatory authorities (e.g. LR, TC, IMO, etc.) and other industry standards (e.g. ASME, IEEE, ASTM, etc.) applicable to job posting.
  • Ability to model and analyze systems in a simplified format for the purpose of illustrating the transformation of inputs, outputs and added value.
  • Project management training or certification (optional).
  • Training or experience in lean/six sigma or other improvement methodologies (optional).
  • Education and awareness of industrial or project management environments with a focus on analyzing and improving operational performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, navigate within a 3D model and/or simulation of the ship, develop & markup drawings, develop presentations and reports, develop technical specifications, perform technical investigations, and develop statement of work for subcontractors.
  • Analytical problem solving and data analysis.
  • Ability to develop statement of work for subcontractors.
  • Verbal and written communication of complex issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional problem solving from technical & business perspective.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Make risk-based technical decisions.
