Driver Helper (Summer Student Position) – Temporary Full-time Position

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned, independent cooperative that operates dairy processing and retail food distribution facilities throughout PEI. For 70 years, we have processed fresh milk from PEI farms to produce premium dairy products, including milk, cheese, cream, butter, and ice cream. Our quality dairy products are in kitchens and restaurants across PEI and Canada.

Position Overview:

As a Student Driver Helper, you'll work closely with our experienced truck drivers to navigate the picturesque landscapes of Prince Edward Island. You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery process, ensuring that our products reach our customers in pristine condition. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with customers, work in multi-temperature environments, and develop essential communication and problem-solving skills.

Wage Rate: $17.00 / hour

Responsibilities:

• Assists the Truck Driver by performing any combination of the following tasks: loads and unloads vehicles by hand or by using a hand truck or dolly.
• Stacks and secures items in position on the truck to prevent damage during shipment.
• Assists the driver in positioning the truck and trailer into a safe parking position.
• Organizes and maximizes the use of space in the truck.
• Delivers and stacks products on the customer's premises.
• Interacts with customers during deliveries.
• Performs tasks in multi-temperature environments.

Qualifications:

• Must be entering or returning to full-time studies at a post-secondary institution in the upcoming fall semester.
• Exhibit demonstrated maturity and responsibility in academic or professional settings, showcasing the ability to handle job-related tasks diligently and effectively.
• Demonstrated capability to lift and handle heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks efficiently.
• Proficiency in safely stacking and securing items for transport, ensuring their integrity during transit.
• Effective organization skills for optimal space utilization within the truck.
• Strong interpersonal abilities for positive interactions with customers
• Ability to comfortably work in varied temperature environments.
• Willingness to collaborate with the Truck Driver and other team members as necessary.
• In-depth knowledge of, and commitment to, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
• Ability to manage time efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
• Clear and effective communication skills, particularly in customer interactions.
