Job Description:
Start date can be as early as May 6th. Start date can be flexible depending on applicant's availability.
Responsibilities:
– Care for established lawns by mowing, raking, weeding, fertilizing and edging around flower beds, walks and walls
– Plant and maintain flower beds, trees and shrubs
– Provide proper upkeep of town-owned trails and green spaces
– Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning shears and hedge trimmers
– Operate powered equipment
– Maintain and repair tools and equipment used for landscaping
– May be required to work in all areas of public works, gardens, parks, ball fields
– Daily up-keep, cleaning, garbage removal of town owned recreational facilities and parks
– Assist with set-up and tear down of events and functions
– Assist with general duties during events and functions
– Perform other duties related to park maintenance as assigned
Requirements:
– Ability to work weekdays and weekends for a total of 40 hours per week
– Capacity to operate a variety of landscape and park maintenance equipment
– Must have a Class 5 Driver's license
– WHIMIS training required
– CSA approved steel-toed work boots will be required
– Mature individual aged 17-29
– Capable of lifting equipment, tables, and a variety of heavy objects up to 50lbs
– Physically fit, ability to stand for long periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling
– Strong organizational skills
– Ability to work with minimal supervision
– First Aid and CPR Training is considered an asset.
– Working knowledge of township properties and programs is an asset
