Under the direction of Chef Michael Smith and Chastity Smith, we offer a five-star inn and dining room seating up to 86 guests at our nightly FireWorks Feast from May to October. Our ingredients are sourced from our on-site culinary farm and other local producers. Together with our farm, we create a ten-course, live-fire-cooked, Island-focused experience.

  • Job Location: Fortune, Prince Edward Island
  • Work Conditions: 86-seat dining room, busy kitchen environment, outdoor culinary venue
  • Work Term: Part-time seasonal (May-October)
  • Schedule: Approximately 4 shifts per week, 5:00pm-10:00pm (20 hours per week), with paid breaks
  • Starting Salary: $16.25-$18.25 per hour, based on experience
  • Benefits: 4% vacation pay. Complimentary staff meals every afternoon during your working hours. Compensation for the purchase of non-slip shoes, which are a requirement of the job, up to $50.00 every two years.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager and Service Supervisors, you will:

  1. Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Pour water at the tables before the guests' arrival and throughout service.
  3. Collect glassware from the drop-off bins around the property.
  4. Polish glassware and cutlery and help put away racks.
  5. Keep watch on the glass racks and inform the Kitchen Porters when they are full.
  6. Help the Servers with coffee and tea prep.
  7. Help clear tables at the end of service.
  8. Keep the Service Station swept and tidy.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience working in a restaurant as a busser, polisher, or host is an asset.
  • On-the-job training will be provided.

Skills/Success Factors

  1. Good communication and hospitality skills; communicates when in need of assistance.
  2. Punctual; communicates appropriately with supervisor if absent or arriving late for a shift.
  3. Displays a friendly demeanour and a team player attitude.
  4. Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and to work hard.
  5. Adaptability to respond quickly to changes in service programming and the guests' needs.
  6. Able to stand and walk for extended periods and carry multiple plates of food when necessary.
  7. Comfortable working outdoors and in the summer heat.
