- Work Conditions: 86-seat dining room, busy kitchen environment, outdoor culinary venue
- Work Term: Part-time seasonal (May-October)
- Schedule: Approximately 4 shifts per week, 5:00pm-10:00pm (20 hours per week), with paid breaks
- Starting Salary: $16.25-$18.25 per hour, based on experience
- Benefits: 4% vacation pay. Complimentary staff meals every afternoon during your working hours. Compensation for the purchase of non-slip shoes, which are a requirement of the job, up to $50.00 every two years.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Restaurant Manager and Service Supervisors, you will:
- Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Pour water at the tables before the guests' arrival and throughout service.
- Collect glassware from the drop-off bins around the property.
- Polish glassware and cutlery and help put away racks.
- Keep watch on the glass racks and inform the Kitchen Porters when they are full.
- Help the Servers with coffee and tea prep.
- Help clear tables at the end of service.
- Keep the Service Station swept and tidy.
Qualifications
Experience
- Experience working in a restaurant as a busser, polisher, or host is an asset.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
Skills/Success Factors
- Good communication and hospitality skills; communicates when in need of assistance.
- Punctual; communicates appropriately with supervisor if absent or arriving late for a shift.
- Displays a friendly demeanour and a team player attitude.
- Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and to work hard.
- Adaptability to respond quickly to changes in service programming and the guests' needs.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods and carry multiple plates of food when necessary.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in the summer heat.
