The candidates will be responsible for assisting Fort Folly Habitat Recovery (FFHR) in a number of habitat and species monitoring surveys, including but not limited to annual smolt monitoring and collections, snorkel surveys targeting adult salmon returning from the ocean, adult salmon angling surveys, electrofishing surveys, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, fish net trap monitoring, and wood turtle surveys. Candidates should be comfortable in and around water, be able to work in a variety of field conditions (bugs, rough terrain, inclement weather), and possess a positive attitude and willingness to get their hands dirty. Daily tasks will often include checking in-river traps, handling fish, collecting and entering length and weight data, snorkelling, and surveying. Candidates will receive training for snorkel surveys, sampling methodology, habitat recognition, and other activities as required.
