Nature & Scope of Position

Material Controllers are responsible for various material handling processes within the Material Control areas (Logistics, Kitting & Stores). The main responsibilities include but not limited to the receiving of incoming engines, inventory or materials, inventory stocking & auditing, issuing & filling sales orders, delivering, sorting and organizing of inventory. Also the management of supporting resources such as vertical storage units, engine carts, and engine parts boxes, tubs & bins.

Position Accountabilities

  • Performing incoming receiving in accordance with Quality procedures.
  • Receiving parts and material into applicable inventories.
  • Issuing parts and materials to work orders per reservations or requests, issuing parts to sales orders.
  • Processing incoming and outgoing piece parts per the applicable DWI's (Detailed Work Instruction).
  • Processing rework parts and handling the accounting problems associated, seeking advice from supervisor as required.
  • Completing inventory audits and investigating discrepancies.
  • Secure, package and ship aircraft engines or spare crate to locations as specified using approved carriers and/or freight forwarders.
  • Liaison with courier representatives, customs brokers, customers and internal Customer Service to ensure the efficient flow of material.
  • Operate the courier shipping system and/or fill out manual documents ensuring all documentation is correct.
  • Operate forklift equipment to receive deliveries and send shipments.
  • Assist/perform loading/unloading or material from delivery vehicles.
  • Prepare arrival notifications, customs and shipping documents for shipment.
  • Process time sensitive materials in a fast pace environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment in the warehouse area as set up by our 5S standards.
  • Controls storage, shipping, handling, delivery and serial numbers of engine crates.
  • Maintain HAZMAT certification and documentation approval.
  • Perform all other duties as required to ensure departmental efficiencies.
  • Organize/layout/kit engine carts to specified work instructions
  • Direct and deliver kitted engine carts to various departments
  • Perform engine induction & estimate approved processes
  • Perform expedite requests and DWI updates as required on a daily basis
  • Receive, prepare and organize engine carts in accordance with applicable instructions
  • Direct and deliver parts, engine boxes, tubs & bins to and from departments
  • Follow and ensure timely delivery of parts by following an hourly delivery schedule
  • Monitor reports for expediting parts to all locations within the facility
  • Perform expedite requests as required on a daily basis
  • Maintain proper location of inventory within the VSU
  • Pick up & delivery of engine carts throughout the facility
  • Receive, prepare and organize engine carts for engine disassembly teams
  • Model behaviors consistent with good quality, health and safety, and environmental management practices.

Qualifications

  • This is a summer student position
  • Strong creative problem solving, reasoning and decision making skills in a team environment
  • Desire to grow, learn and work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with minimal supervision or direction
  • Perform administrative tasks and all other duties as required to ensure departmental efficiencies.

Working Environment:

An individual in this capacity must be aware that the position will involve:

  • Some physical demands including heavy lifting up to a maximum of 50lbs.
  • Must be willing to walk to various areas throughout the facility throughout the day.
  • A requirement to be physically fit and possess sufficient strength to safely maneuver all parts requiring processing (using available hoists, etc.) without risk of personal injury or damage to the parts
  • Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on a regular basis, steel toe safety shoes.
  • Must be willing to work shift work, occasional overtime, weekend and holiday on-call when required.
