The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), Division of Dance invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach the following course in the Summer 2024.

Lectures for the Summer 2024 term run from June 24 to August 6. Individual course dates are noted below; please see the academic schedule for additional important dates and deadlines.

Summer 2024

DNCE 206.07: Topics in Dance Forms (Dance for Musical Theatre)

Course dates: June 24 - August 6, 2024
Monday through Thursdays 14:00 - 15:45
Course description: An introduction to Dance for Musical theatre. Designed for non-Dance majors.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree in dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, theater with dance emphasis, or related field connected to the individual course posting.
• Minimum three years of professional experience recognized by peers in the field
• Recognized professional achievement or substantial training in the field specified in the job announcement.
• Energy, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in teaching.
• Willingness to work with students having a wide range of skills, varying abilities, motivations, and academic or vocational goals.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities.
• Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

• Possession of a Master's or PhD in dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, theater with dance emphasis, or related field connected to the individual course posting.
• Minimum seven years of professional experience recognized by peers in the field
• Outstanding professional achievement or substantial training in the field specified in the job announcement.
• At least three years of successful teaching experience at the university level.
• The ability to use instructional strategies designed for diverse learning styles and academic goals.
• Demonstrable knowledge of current literature on dance.
