Function Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Champlain Hospice Palliative Care Program, the CHPCP Communications Assistant is responsible of developing communication tools for the program. The tasks will include the research of palliative care topics and consultation of health care providers in palliative care across a variety of settings to gather information and seek feedback. The role is also responsible of drafting pamphlets and online content about grief and bereavement and regional palliative care resources, creating presentations to support the program.

Required Qualifications
  • Completing a degree in a relevant field such as communications, public health, healthcare administration, nursing, social work, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Knowledge of palliative care or a strong interest in the area.
  • Experience with research and content creation, through volunteer or course work.

Key Competencies
  • Ability to conduct literature searches using academic databases, with an understanding of evidence-informed practice and how to critique research articles and information from web sources.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 (word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams), and design and video software.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive)
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be eligible to get a satisfactory police record check (Level 2)
