The Victoria College Writing Centre invites applications for a Writing Instructor position. This position will serve two terms, the first running September 16, 2024 to December 20, 2024, and the second running January 13, 2025 to April 30, 2025, with a minimum of 20 working days. The number of hours will average 20 hours per week, with the aim of scheduling fewer hours in less busy periods and more hours at peak demand. Appointments will normally take place between 9-6pm, Monday through Friday, with the specific schedule based on mutual agreement.

The chief duty of instructors at the Writing Centre is to provide one-on-one writing instruction to undergraduate students working in a variety of disciplines, especially on organization, reasoning, style, and language use.Instructors may also be asked to prepare instructional material and to deliver group instruction.

The Victoria College Writing Centre encourages applicants with relevant skills for teaching writing one-on-one across a variety of disciplines and those with experience teaching in university courses with a significant writing instruction component. A strong ability to work with a diverse group of students and with students whose first language is not English is an asset.

Qualifications include a completed graduate degree from a post-secondary institution and preference for previous experience in working with a writing centre.

The current rate of pay is $53.41 per hour.
