VineHR is supporting our client with the recruitment for an Intermediate Accountant for a 12-month contract to join their head office in Burnaby. This position offers variety in a complex and dynamic business with an immediate start.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will join a close-knit, growing accounting and finance team. It is a great role if you are looking to be a part of an innovative, tenured, and forward-thinking team. The key responsibilities are as follows:

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and submit sales tax returns to the relevant tax authorities

· Compile necessary documentation for sales tax audit

· Ensure accruals are properly documented and recorded in the accounting system

· Monthly/Annual Inventory Reconciliation

· Treasury function for a Canadian subsidiary

· Coordinate with the auditors to schedule the audit and provide access to necessary information.

· Address any findings or discrepancies identified during the audit process.

· Update fixed asset records to reflect additions, disposals, and depreciation

· Reconcile intercompany accounts with counterparties within the group

· Ad-Hoc projects

Candidate Profile
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with exceptional communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an autonomous, entrepreneurial environment. You should also have:

· 5+ years of relevant experience including at least 3 years of full-cycle accounting

· Exposure to treasury and sales tax

· Post-secondary education in relevant field such as accounting, finance or business administration

· Working towards recognized accounting designation is an asset but not a requirement

· Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume and growth-oriented environment

· The ability to thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing organization where you will have a direct impact on your work!

Location

This position is an on-site position at the head office in Burnaby with the option of working one day from home.

Compensation
Base salary in the range of $60,000 – 70,000 per year depending on experience plus benefits.
