This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level Engineer/Scientist to join the Ballard Product Reliability Team. The new hire will be responsible for providing reliability engineering support for Ballard's fuel cell products. The individual will use standard reliability engineering principles and technical skills to define, measure, model, and improve the reliability and robustness of Ballard's fuel cell products. The scope of work includes statistical analysis, modelling, and reporting on topics such as: design for reliability and robustness, failure avoidance, and supplier component reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

•Data Analysis and Reporting: Support analysis and compilation of large data sets for standard Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) reports and presentations. Collaborate cross functionally to maintain and refine reports as required.

•Analysis & Modelling: Perform a variety of analysis and modelling functions, such as: tabulation, categorization, charting, descriptive statistics, Monte Carlo Simulation, and tolerance analysis.

•FRACAS / FRB: Support the Failure / Problem Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) for all of Ballard's product lines, working on key areas such as problem definition, root cause analysis, preventive and corrective actions, effectiveness, and prevention of recurrence. Participate in, and contribute to reporting for monthly Failure Review Board (FRB) meetings.

•Support the maintenance and improvements of reliability engineering processes and related documentation.

•Collaborate across the Ballard organization to improve system component data from suppliers, supplier testing, or internal Ballard testing.

•FMEA: Support and/or facilitate Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, with specific emphasis on cause – failure mode – effect relationships, effects and severities, causes and occurrences, prevention and detection actions, and special characteristics.
