Overview:

Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Vice President, People and Culture, serves as an essential member of the Executive team and active strategic partner throughout the organization. As the VP of People and Culture, you will be responsible for leading the team to fulfill the charitable mission of Y Winnipeg. You will work closely and collaborate with the executive team to execute the new Strategic Plan and develop a People and Culture strategy that aligns with the organization's vision, mission, strategic pillars, and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition: Lead the recruitment efforts to identify and hire individuals who are aligned with the organization's mission and values. Develop innovative strategies to attract diverse candidates from various sources.
  • Culture Development: Cultivate a positive and inclusive organizational culture that encourages problem solving, collaboration, and innovation. Work closely with leadership to reinforce the organization's values and promote a sense of belonging among employees.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI): Drive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization. Develop strategies to foster a culture of belonging and ensure that DEI principles are integrated into all aspects of the employee experience.
  • Organizational Development: Collaborate with leadership to assess organizational needs and develop strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness and resilience. Identify opportunities for process improvements and organizational growth.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related matters, including conflict resolution, performance issues, investigations and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Employee Engagement: Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction, including employee recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts to facilitate smooth transitions during organizational changes such as process reengineering and streamlining, technological changes, automation, and other process improvements. Develop communication plans, training programs, and stakeholder engagement strategies to minimize resistance and maximize adoption of change initiatives.
  • Performance Management: Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms. Provide guidance and support to managers in effectively managing employee performance and development.
  • HR Operations: Leads a team of seven employees including payroll and benefits, DEI, training, workplace safety and health. Ensures compliance with Child Protection Policy as well as employment laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPHR designation is required.
  • 8 - 10 years of progressive experience in human resources management across several HR functions including experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing HR strategies that drive organizational success.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong relationship management with the ability to interact collaboratively across team and organizational boundaries while fostering an environment of belonging, communication, teamwork and effective problem-solving.
  • High attention to detail with the capacity to structure ambiguous problems, conduct complicated analysis, identify key insights, and make recommendations efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience in operational reporting, dashboard delivery, and process monitoring is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS systems and high proficiency in MS Office Suite with excellent Excel skills.
  • Ability to travel between centres across the Winnipeg area.
