Position Title: Process Safety Engineer

Pay Rate: $84,800 - $113,100

Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Directions: Travel 12 kms south of Grande Prairie on Resources Road.

The Job You Will Perform:

1. Provide technical support for site change improvements ensuring compliance with safety, legal, regulatory, and technology standards
2. Review and approve site management of change requests
3. Ensure plant flow sheets (P&ID's) are current and available
4. Ensure process safety studies are current and available
5. Support site process safety management program (PSM) owner
6. Manage team process safety engineering procedures and documentation systems
7. Provide backup coverage for the mill engineering document controller
8. Review and size process safety equipment (process safety valves, etc.)
9. Provide technical support for the pulp mill
10. Provide design support and lead projects as needed
11. Comply with all safety standards and meet all legal requirements
12. Comply with all mechanical/process safety engineering standards
13. Prepare process safety design notes, calculations, and specifications.
14. Work with other disciplines and project engineers to support risk management and hazard analysis activities
15. Participate in design reviews
16. Coordinate with regional engineering office and multidisciplinary teams on process safety initiatives
17. Prepare data sheets, specifications, and RFPs for process safety equipment
18. Work with procurement personnel to purchase and expedite process safety equipment
19. Review vendor drawings and documentation

The Skills You Will Bring:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline.
2-10 years of experience.
Registered Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer with APEGA.
Knowledge of ASME piping codes, B31.1 and B31.3, and Boiler Pressure Vessel codes.
Familiar with Alberta Boilers Branch standards and design registration process.
Experience using AutoCAD, Solidworks, and SAP.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment.
Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work in an industrial environment and familiar with the pulp and paper industry.
Facilitate Planning and Coordinating Maintenance Outages, Priority Setting, Conflict Management, Building Effective Teams, Problem Solving, Meeting Budgets
