Position Summary:

As a key member of the ICU/CCU team, the Clerical Associate will register patients using Meditech software, assist with all clerical functions necessary for the smooth operation of the ICU including answering the telephone and dealing with inquiries from the public and hospital staff. Other activities include, but are not limited to: maintenance of patient records, data entry, physician orders and insuring adequate and proper office supplies. The Clerical Associate must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Other related duties as per job fact sheet.

This is a part-time position to work eight (8) hour and twelve (12) hour shifts as required – days and evenings, weekends and statutory holidays included. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Medical Office Administration program certificate required
  • Medical terminology certificate required.
  • Current experience preferred in a health care setting.
  • Excellent keyboarding skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Previous experience with Meditech system modules including order entry, and admissions preferred.
  • Excellent keyboarding and computer data entry skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
