What you're passionate about

Spelling and grammar matter in your world, and you have a knack for writing, editing and proofing content that is clear, concise and effective by avoiding things like Unnecessary Capitalization and "quotation marks", passive voice and run-on sentences. A typical day for the Content Strategist
  • Concept development and writing for external communications, including website content, website news articles, handbooks, member letters and other member-specific communications, newsletter articles and corporate reports
  • Concept development and writing for internal communications, including education materials, reports, forms, presentations and speaking notes, intranet blogs and announcements, staff and manager bulletins, articles, surveys and briefing notes
  • Aligning content with communication strategies, key messages, voice, style and brand
  • Liaising with business subject matter experts for the creation and implementation of internal and external content
  • Editing copy received from content contributors and peers, and ensuring it adheres to APS standards and style guides, including the Canadian Press Stylebook
  • Updating and maintaining time-sensitive material
  • Compiling and analyzing website usage statistics and using metadata and other methods to optimize search engine positions
What you bring
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications or journalism
  • Degree, diploma or certification from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), SharePoint and Microsoft 365 knowledge
  • Applied knowledge of best practices for various forms of writing (web, print, business letter, technical, marketing, presentation, script, executive speeches)
  • Proficiency with search engine optimization techniques and meta-tagging
  • Website statistics and how to interpret them to measure against communications goals
  • Adobe Acrobat, Google Analytics , as well as cloud-based content software such as Gather Content
  • Ability to think strategically, weigh communications issues and offer effective solutions
  • Superior research, writing, editing and proofing skills
  • Ability to write in various voices, styles and standards, and modify voice based on brand or audience
  • Expert skill at writing and modifying content for a variety of communication channels
