As an underwriting analyst, you assist with medical underwriting to provide sound management of life and health insurance risks. You analyze and assess risks and review life and health insurance applications. You analyze and help diagnose issues, provide advice in accordance with your discipline's rules and help develop recommendations and implementation plans. You develop tools, methods and processes. Your projects and initiatives require extensive knowledge of your line of work. You share ideas and help solve problems using your analytical skills, extensive knowledge of your line of business and ability to manage complexity. You interact with stakeholders working in other fields. You provide discipline-specific support to your unit, clients and partners. More specifically, you will be required to :
Examines documents received and ensures that the information is complete. If necessary, acquires information from the persons concerned
Analyzes the elements on file, assesses the risks the company is exposed to based on the standards and practices in force; and accepts, amends, cancels or rejects the insurance application
Establishes the excess mortality or morbidity rate by consulting various reference sources used in the company
Acts as a resource person for colleagues
Completes the electronic documentation by rigorously codifying the information contained on file
Drafts correspondence to explain case decisions or to provide an interpretation of our insurance policies
Helps develop operational processes or changes to computerized systems for the unit
Consults with his superior or internal or external resources on more complex cases, as required, and evaluates potential risk for the organization
