SALARY: $99,395 - $129,253 per annum

DUTIES

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to lead as the Director of our new Indigenous entrepreneurship accelerator and incubator, Mittohnee Pogo'ohtah (Mittohnee). The Director will be responsible for spearheading the strategic vision and day-to-day operations of Mittohnee, working under the Vice President, Indigenous Strategy, Research, Business Development (ISRBD). They will work collaboratively with academic leaders in the Schools of Indigenous Education, Business, Information Technology and Creative Arts, and Hospitality and Culinary Arts; leading a small but growing team to support and empower Indigenous entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, and established band or community member owned businesses.

The Director plays a key role in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with Indigenous bands, tribes and communities in Manitoba as well as industry, government, associations, and other educational institutions. The Director also plays a key role in establishing and maintaining internal partnerships that support student learning (especially through applied learning/internships), shared community resources, increased entrepreneurial opportunities for Indigenous students, Indigenous student recruitment, and shared governance all within the context of the College's and Department's (IRSBD) strategic plan

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or Social Development with experience working within an academic institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience as an entrepreneur and understanding of today's startup environment, especially as it relates to Indigenous entrepreneurs
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous historical truths, socioeconomics and worldviews
  • Understanding of access to capital, especially as it relates to Indigenous entrepreneurs
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills
  • Critical thinking and creative problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal written, oral, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop, maintain and manage a wide variety of stakeholder relationships with sometimes conflicting expectations and agendas
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset
  • Ability to track, manage, and report on significant projects and budgets
  • Human resource management skills including the ability to foster positive relationships within a unionized environment
  • Ability to promote and act as a role model for corporate social responsibility and community involvement
  • Ability to consultatively engage with Indigenous communities
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work overtime
  • This position may be required to travel
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
