Role

Big Bang is seeking an Accounting Technician to be part of our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Technician will perform a variety of general accounting support tasks in the accounting department. The individual will work collaboratively with both the accounting team and other departments to achieve corporate objectives, deadlines and enforce corporate procedures and policies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update financial records in an organized manner.
  • Monitor the status of invoices to ensure proper processing.
  • Communicate with customers to notify them of delinquent accounts.
  • Responsible for Receivables including payment applications, deposits, etc.
  • Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for payment, recording sales tax, assisting with bank reconciliations.
  • Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices and confirm that the correct general ledger account codes are used.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare the monthly intercompany billing and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Remit federal and provincial taxes and looks after the correspondence with tax authorities;
  • Provide end-to-end accounting support for other subsidiaries.
  • Assist with accounting tasks such as month end closing and year-end audit.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support including, opening and sorting mail, data entry mailing, scanning, faxing and copying to management.
  • Prepares audit packages and acts as a point of contact with the external auditors as part of the annual audit.
  • Compile data and prepare a variety of reports.
  • Increase productivity by developing automated reporting tools.
  • Lead special projects, provide supplementary & ad-hoc reporting/analysis as required.
  • Document processes and procedures and make recommendations for their improvement;
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Studies in a related field and completed post-secondary degree from a recognized University or College required
  • 2 or more years of experience in a similar position
  • Computer proficiency in software applications including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Experience working with large ERPs preferred. Netsuite experience is a strong asset.
  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal (French and English)
