Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards through thorough inspection and analysis. Your attention to detail and expertise in quality control will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for excellence. The hours are flexible, and we are willing to accommodate changing University/College schedules for engineering/other students currently completing their post-secondary education and seeking a part-time job in a relevant field. Full-time work during the summer is also negotiable.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform quality inspections on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products
  2. Utilize various tools and equipment to measure and evaluate product dimensions, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  3. Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns that may indicate potential quality issues
  4. Collaborate with production teams to address any quality concerns or non-conformities
  5. Conduct regular audits of production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures
  6. Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and guidelines
  7. Participate in root cause analysis investigations to identify the source of quality issues and recommend corrective actions
  8. Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results, test reports, and other quality-related records
  9. Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing input on process enhancements or efficiency improvements
  10. Testing piezo-electric materials
  11. Preparation of high accuracy proportion mixtures of epoxy, metal powders, and other components
  12. Filling specially prepared molds with mixture and baking in the oven
  13. Soldering cables and tiny components
  14. Testing components at different stages of assembly and final testing
  15. Integration of the transducer into different kinds of housing and fixtures for commercial application in industrial and clinical environments
  16. Quality test of assembled ultrasonic probes before sending to end user
  17. Assembly of electronic devices from components ordered from third-party suppliers
Required skills:

Assembling simple electronic and electric devices. Knowledge of basics of electric/electronic devices. A general mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand and power tools such as screwdriver, ratchet set, tap and tie set, drill press, bandsaw. Basic experience with solid/CAD modeling and 3D printing of enclosures, jigs, etc. Ability to create technical documentation for products and a habit of documenting own work. Electronics prototyping abilities including fine pitch soldering and familiarity with basic electronics lab equipment: Power supply, Oscilloscope, Function Generator, etc. Proficient in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Familiarity with QA/QC principles and practices. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or specifications. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes of issues. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. General knowledge of Windows administration, driver installation, troubleshooting, networking, etc. Competency using basic office productivity software, i.e., Word, Excel or open-source equivalents.

The candidate is expected to be handy and feel comfortable while operating with small objects and soldering them as a routine everyday process. Their responsibilities will include the above-mentioned items involving all stages of quality assurance on our core product line. The final product will be installed into either bio-medical or industrial systems for subsequent use in non-invasive or non-destructive testing.
