You want to further develop your nursing skills in this area. These include fetal health assessments, labour assessments, bloodwork, patient and family education, infant feeding, high-risk delivery care, antenatal assessments and neonatal assessments to name a few.

About This Team:
The Labour and Delivery Unit is a tertiary level care centre in Toronto. We deliver approximately 6,500 patients and their families each year. Our patients are antenatal and perinatal. We provide both low and high risk obstetrical care. Our space is comprised of 19 birthing suites, 7 Triage beds, 6 Operating Rooms and 5 ODU beds within an Observation Decision Unit (ODU).

In this role you will:

  • Provide direct care in the Labour and Delivery unit, Triage, Operating Rooms, Recovery Room
  • Conduct assessments such as fetal health assessments, labour assessments, antenatal assessments and neonatal assessments
  • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Conduct infant feeding and bloodwork
  • Provide high risk delivery care
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required

Job Requirements

Mandatory

  • Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor's degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider status. Applicants not currently enrolled in an NRP program may be considered. This program must be successfully completed within three (3) months of hire
  • Successful Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour (FHSL) course completion. Applicants not currently enrolled in an FHSL program may be considered. This program must be successfully completed within three (3) months of hire

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN). Applicants in their final year or near completion will be considered

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills

Note: Preference will be given to applicants with recent labour and delivery experience; consideration for hire may also be given to nursing graduates who have completed their practicum consolidation in labour and delivery.
