Our client, a regional Main Contractor, based in the Halifax area are seeking a Estimator to join them due to long standing employee recently leaving to seek a new challenge. The Estimator will be working on Commercial projects across the region working from head office in the Halifax area. The role will involve a range of Estimating focused duties working alongside the commercial team.
The client themselves have a turnover of around £23 million and are looking to grow leading to strong progression opportunities for the right individual. Projects will vary from Educational, Healthcare, Industrial, ranging in values from £250k - £5million.
Estimator Position Overview
- Able to produce accurate quotations from drawings & specifications and submit tender returns * Prepare rates for each item within the BOQ from first principles
- Measuring & 'Taking-Off' quantities from drawings
- Liaise with Senior Management and obtain their input into tenders, offers and proposals.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors at tender stage to obtain the most competitive prices ensuring firm quotes are received for significant materials and subcontract items to support the best net estimate
- Run more than one project at any one time at different stages,
- Requesting further information from Client / Design Team and arrange meetings if required
- Attend pre and post contract reviews and client meetings
- Hand over successful tenders to the construction team
Estimator Position Requirements
- Must hold a full driving licence
- Good tenure
- Must be looking for a long-term role
- Minimum of 3 years Estimating experience with a Main Contractor
- Living within commuting distance of Halifax
