Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Transportation East at Markham Head Office, the Transportation Coordinator will handle day to day activities in TMS (Transportation Management System) including monitoring carrier compliance and carrier billing approval.
Key Accountabilities- Plan and coordinate all aspects of transportation, including domestic, International and US freight, using the Sofina TMS. This includes but is not limited to tendering loads and monitoring shipments.
- Audit and approve freight invoices, investigate any exceptions, code invoices wherever applicable.
- Liaise between customer service, quality assurance, and production scheduling teams as inventory issues arise. Also liaise with 3rd party transport & warehouse providers.
- Receive and resolve carrier inquiries/complaints and appropriately escalate issues.
- Ensure that all relevant data is properly collected and maintained in TMS in conjunction with their manager.
- Provide feedback to management on areas of opportunities to lower transportation costs through payload improvement, load consolidation and asset utilization.
- Investigate and address all OS&D reports from transportation providers.
- Provide input to Customer Service on all customer penalties and deductions related to on time delivery.
- Additional support as required to cover off any manpower/vacation gaps.
- Prepare Customs documents for all USA / Mexico shipments. Ensure shipments are in accordance with FDA requirements.
- Coordinate cross border returns. Ensure compliance with FDA Census audits.
- Maintain a close relationship with the CFIA Inspector, responding to any enquiries made by the Inspector or Veterinarian. Keep track of all certificates in log book.

Other duties as assigned, which may include:
- Assists Canadian Distribution:
- Provide back-up coverage for the Credit and Product Returns function.
- Allocate orders for distribution out of the Calgary 3PL warehouse.
- Create ASN's (Advanced Shipping Notification) labels for Loblaw and Target, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong planning, analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Minimum two years' of experience in a logistics role; (shipping, receiving, transportation);
- ERP experience is required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS
- High school diploma
- PLOG or CITT preferred.
