About Grandview KidsGrandview Kids provides an array of specialized programs, rehabilitation services, and outpatient clinical treatments to children and youth with physical, communication, and developmental needs. Programs and services – which are delivered at the Centre, in the community, at schools, and in-home – include: medical consultation, assessment, and diagnosis; audiology, autism support; complex care program; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; respite services; social work; speech-language pathology; therapeutic recreation; and family engagement. Grandview Kids actively participates in research to support innovation in rehabilitation science, to advance organizational capabilities, and to better serve caregivers and the developmental needs of their children and adolescents. Grandview Kids is now accepting applications for the position of:
Occupational Therapy Assistant / Physiotherapy Assistant –Contract Part-Time
- Contract Part-Time (.4FTE) – 15 hours/week
- July 2024 – March 29, 2025
- On Site/In Person
Under the general direction of the Clinical Manager, and day to day supervision of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, the Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant assists in direct client care through implementation of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy programs for clients in outpatient programs; assists in direct client care through implementation of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy programs for clients in Campbell Children's School; assists in indirect client care by preparing and organizing materials for client care; assists in providing departmental support by organizing and maintaining supplies; documents involvement in client care; maintains statistical data; ensures that the environment of the occupational therapy/physiotherapy treatment area meets client's needs; maintains communication with all relevant staff members regarding client care and program business; supports departmental/Centre efforts in Continuous Quality Management (QM) activities; participates in education, orientation and public relations, as required; maintains a safe work environment; performs designated administrative duties; performs other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Assistant program.
- 2 years' experience in a related clinical setting.
- Ability to perform lifts and transfers with complex needs clients required.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis an asset
- Knowledge of equipment, adaptive devices and standardized tests.
- Knowledge of basic word processing programs.
- Ability to collaborate with other team members.
- Ability to use therapeutic splinting materials.
- Ability to use audio/video recorders/augmentative communication devices.
- Ability to set priorities and time management.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle, or appropriate transportation.
This position is a member of the bargaining unit which is represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, and as such will be bound under the terms of the collective agreement.
