What You'll Do

The Technical Manager is the primary technical support person for the operation of six Electric Arc Furnaces at our Niagara Falls, Ontario plant. This role requires a systems and hands-on approach to effectively deal with problems and recognize areas for improvement. The Technical Manager reports directly to the Furnace Processing Manager and directly supervises the Quality Control (QC) Supervisor and the Process Development Engineer.

  • Identify possible substitutions for raw materials or processes to maintain product offerings
  • Manager operation of recycling program and oversee planning and execution of fusion campaigns
  • Work cross departmentally with Marketing, Sales, Research and Development, and Plant Operations
  • Optimize material processing controls to minimize costs, such as recycling, without compromising product quality or safety
  • Prepare and submit technical reports, summaries of Furnace campaigns, and ensures that these summaries are available in a timely manner
  • Relay appropriate information and instructions to all necessary Plant Personnel

What You'll Need

To be successful in this position, you must:

  • Possess a degree in Engineering with a background in Materials or other relevant specialty
  • Have 5 years plus of experience in an industrial environment
  • Be an effective communicator who can engage plant and office personnel to help resolve daily challenges
  • Understand Mass and Heat balances and reactions associated with high temperature processing
  • Have strong verbal skills, written skills, and a strong attention to detail
