Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer to join our growing Western Canada remediation and reclamation team in British Columbia. The right candidate can work locally from our Burnaby, BC office; plus AECOM can provide hybrid work options to give the flexibility you need to do your best work. This is a Full-time role .
You'll have the opportunity to work on various multi-disciplinary and high-profile environmental and civil projects. The immediate opportunities will likely focus on supporting large industrial clients and ongoing large northern remediation projects, such as Faro Mine and Giant Mine Remediation. Work will vary pending the applicants experience and career aspirations. This position is ideally suited to a senior environmental / civil engineer with aspirations to develop their technical career on large projects ($100k - $5M project budget) multidisciplinary engineering projects in the following focus areas - mine reclamation; civil works; remediation implementation; and waste infrastructure. The day-to-day roles of a Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer will be:
Prepare, lead, and/or review the development of technical solutions as part of a design team, assist in the design and evaluation of engineering applications from options assessment to detailed design phases.
Prepare, lead, and/or review field programs required to collect and analyze outstanding data gaps for design advancement.
Prepare, lead, and/or review documentation for design projects: technical letters, memorandums, reports, drawing packages, and detailed design packages.
Prepare, lead, and/or review the preparation of project specifications , contract documents, construction packages, and work with the AECOM cost estimating team.
Direct junior and intermediate staff during the completion of work. Collaborate with peers to create a productive team environment.
Collaborate with other AECOM staff and business lines to deliver multi-disciplinary environmental/civil projects.
Collaborate with client, contractors, and sub-consultants.
There are also opportunities for candidates who would like to be involved with project management to have access to training and careers opportunities if of interest, but this is not a specific requirement of this role.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline; Civil, Environmental, etc.
6+ years of related experience within civil and/or environmental engineering field.
Registered Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Canada (or eligible for licensing).
Valid driver's license.
Willing to occasionally travel to Canada's northern territories for short periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of technical experience with exposure to some of the following fields:
Northern remediation design projects; environmental assessment, environmental engineering, and civil engineering.
Remedial option assessment, implementation, system operation and maintenance, waste management.
Coordination of designs with drafting teams.
Technical writing and preparing technical documents, such as reports.
Preparation, leading, and/or reviewing regulatory submittal documents.
Experience in project specifications development and implementation using NMS format.
Experience with construction oversight such as; field services, contract document preparation, quality assurance oversight, contract administration, and construction estimate preparation.
Experience with project coordination including Proposal writing, job scoping, and making project plans.
Working in a team setting to meet timelines and quality management requirements.
Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.
Personal Attributes:
Highly developed written communication, time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct with integrity, work within multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.
A high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $102,000.00 - $145,000.00.
