Peninsula Co-op is a Vancouver Island-based co-operative with a mission to build strong communities and to benefit its member-owners. With approximately 470 staff, Peninsula Co-op operates 17 retail fuel and convenience centres, 10 liquor stores, commercial card lock and home heating outlets, and a full-sized food store. The Co-op generates approximately $300 million in annual sales and donates over $500k each year to local charities. The business is highly regarded, financially strong, and has developed a loyal member following. The Co-op remains locally owned and proudly shares profits with its 125,000 member-owners, community, and staff.
As part of its growth plan, Peninsula has recently begun to rapidly expand into the liquor store space, purchasing 8 locations in the last 8 months alone. A new retail brand – Liquor Co 1977 – has been launched and renovations and rebranding are underway across the portfolio. Peninsula is looking to grow the Liquor Co 1977 portfolio to 25+ locations over the next couple years, through acquisitions and/or organic growth, with annual revenue targets in excess of $100 million.
As part of this expansion, this new position has been created. The VP Retail Operations, reporting to the CEO, will oversee the growing liquor division and the existing grocery operations. With a mandate to drive growth and innovation, deliver operational excellence and deliver exceptional customer experiences, the new VP will ensure the division maintains Peninsula's award-winning culture and brand.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leadership in the retail sector. With strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities, you will have overseen multiple retail locations and bring a depth of knowledge of retail industry trends, technologies and best practices. A dynamic and growth-oriented leader, you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are known for your exceptional leadership skills.
