This Opportunity

The Toronto office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking a Project Manager, Audiovisual (AV). You're savvy when it comes to emerging technologies and best practices. You're the kind of person who thinks outside the box when it comes to finding opportunities for growing the business and you thrive at building relationships. You have clear communication skills, and can effectively wield those skills to make sure clients, consultants and contractors are kept in the loop. What You'll Do

  • Provide effective project management and communication with integrators, architects, owners and other consultants including prompt email response and attendance of all required project meetings (design team coordination, bidder review and site construction meetings)
  • Work with audiovisual integrators, general contractors and other trades to ensure that all site related issues are resolved in a timely manner. This may involve the issuance of site instruction, change notices and other related documentation.
  • Mentor other discipline engineers – both senior and junior in various regional offices relating to audio-visual design and consultation.
  • Provide effective communication with integrators, architects, owners and other consultants including prompt email response and attendance of all required project meetings.
  • Attend design team meetings to review and gather needs requirements from the clients.
  • Work with the Smith and Andersen Audiovisual team to translate client requirements to construction contract specifications and drawings.
  • Review with AV design team AV system tender packages. Ensure all drawings, details and specifications are fair, reasonable and constructible.
  • Liaise with audiovisual integrators, general contractors and other trades to ensure that all site related issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Conduct AV system deficiency review visits at the completion of AV installation to verify design and enforce Smith +Andersen's AV design standards. Produce deficiency reports and deficiency checklists.
  • Stay abreast of AV best practices, emerging technologies and process efficiencies.

Who You Are

  • Possess 5 or more years of experience in the field of audiovisual technical sales or design.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Possess sound communications skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects.
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation is an asset.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • External manufacturer training including Extron, Crestron, control and digital signal processor certifications are assets.
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical and telecommunications systems is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, methods and standards.
  • Strong initiative and practical problem solving.
  • Ability to travel to other regional office locations.
