Role Overview
A full-time opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist to become an integral part of our accounting and finance team. This position will report to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting in various accounting and accounts payable tasks. In addition, this position will assist with various other projects.
The Accounts Payable Specialist position is based in our Vancouver office and forms an integral part of our accounting and finance function for a rapidly growing company. This position works collaboratively across our Canadian and US-based teams supporting the financial reporting function and advancement of our projects.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing invoices for validity including terms, accuracy and appropriateness for payment.
- Entering invoices into accounts payable in SAP accounting software.
- Follow up on invoices held for resolution.
- Work closely with project team to ensure that all invoices are paid on a timely basis in accordance with the Company's procedures.
- Assisting with expense report and credit card reconciliations.
- Assist with training new employees on accounts payable, reconciliations and procedures. Meet month-end deadlines for entering invoices and journal entries.
- Identify invoices that should be accrued and ensure invoices are entered into the correct accounting periods.Assisting with annual audit Information and supporting documents.
- Review and reconcile vendor account statements.
- Act as back-up for Accounts Payable Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Post secondary education preferred.
- Two (2) or more years of accounts payable experience.
- General accounting experience and knowledge of basic accounting concepts.
- Experience with SAP will be an asset but not mandatory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint, Teams)
- Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.
- Ability to complete a high volume of work accurately and within deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
