Toromont Cat Power Systems is looking for an EGS Shop Technician, Power Systems to join our team!

The Technician will be responsible for supporting our customers with superior service and product expertise to safely and effectively diagnose and repair Caterpillar Power Systems in a timely manner while maintaining high standards and ensuring positive customer experiences.

In a typical day, YOU will:

1. Demonstrate safe and environmentally sound work behaviors at all times in support of Toromont's Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and initiatives
2. Prepare new and used products including gensets, industrial engines, marine engines, controls, and other auxiliary equipment, such as Automatic Transfer Switches, Switchgear, and Uninterruptible Power Supplies modified to customer's specifications
3. Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and mechanical repairs on engines and generators in the shop
4. Perform basic troubleshooting for all equipment and provide recommendations on repairs and upgrades
5. Use electrical and mechanical testing and calibrating equipment to diagnose and service equipment
6. Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and wiring diagrams
7. Submit accurate and detailed service reports, time cards, and other required paperwork in a timely manner
8. Operate and connect load banks in a test environment and perform engine overhauls

Must-haves for this role:

Completed a post-secondary education in a field related to diesel engines, truck & coach mechanics, electromechanics, marine engine mechanics, industrial mechanics, or equivalent mechanical field

A solid understanding of diesel engines, gas engines, power fundamentals, and electrical controls

Experience in the repair and maintenance of generators, gensets, diesel engines, marine engines, or related experience
