Full Job Description
Canadian Flatbeds is a leading trucking company specializing in flatbeds. We pride ourselves on our commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team and contribute to our continued growth and success. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting functions within the company. This role requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices, excellent analytical skills, and experience in the trucking or transportation industry.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Principles.
- Assisting in month end closing.
- Reconcile key accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other general ledger accounts.
- Track and maintain Lease & fixed assets schedules & depreciation calculations.
- Assist with the preparation of Sales taxes, WSIB, IFTA & Carbon taxes.
- Provide support for internal and external audits, including preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including industry specific requirements.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification or working towards is preferred.
- Strong reporting skills, understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the trucking or transportation industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks or NetSuite) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm from Milton office
Occasional weekend availability
