Be part of a friendly team of passionate hydrology technicians

The Tasman region is a naturally beautiful environment to live, work & play. Relocation packages available.

Based in our Richmond offices, the Environmental Information Team

Are seeking a person with a practical can-do attitude and on the job experience in data collection to join our Environmental Monitoring team. The team is focused on collecting accurate data from a range of environments including groundwater, rivers and lakes, sea level, water quality, and meteorology.

Great Job:

You will be involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of monitoring sites, plus operate a wide variety of technology including data loggers, remote control boats, and drones. While you will be traveling the rivers, mountains, and coastline of the district that boasts high sunshine hours, there will also be an equal amount of office-based work. You will carry out equipment calibrations, quality assurance, and data processing, and have the opportunity to be involved in data analysis and maintaining data telemetry.

If you are someone who enjoys the outdoors:

We work in a variety of environments and terrains which can be physically demanding, so you'll need to be a confident swimmer and have a reasonable level of fitness. You'll like working autonomously and are also comfortable to share ideas with and work in a team. Ideally, you will have a minimum of three years' experience in Environmental Monitoring with strengths in asset maintenance/construction. We are open to those wanting to deepen their experience, or those who are exceptionally skilled in the field, with remuneration appropriate to the level of competency.

Great people:

We're a small friendly team within a dynamic science and technology group that work closely with others supporting Tasman Council's efforts in resource management, water allocation, compliance, engineering design, and flood warning - with information also being heavily used by the local community, as well as for national studies.

Great perks:

Climate and lifestyle are some of the major factors for people choosing to live and work in the Tasman District. If you love the great outdoors, the Tasman District is next to a stunning collection of national parks, along with plenty of other outdoor action, and has great wines, craft beer, and food - the list of attractions is immense.

Our benefits package is unique - you customize it to your preferences to include a combination of extra leave, cash payout, health insurance, and additional superannuation contributions. Alongside health insurance and a day off on your birthday too!
