What you will do.

Your role as a Sales/Category Analyst will have you supporting the business in various departments by gathering, summarizing, and performing base analytics against various internal, customer-based, and other data sources. The Analyst will deliver against regular reporting routines with speed and accuracy to enable strategic and tactical decision-making for the broader team. This role will work very closely with category insights and sales strategy.

The role in more details.

  • Prepare standard reports on key market, segment and brand trends that monitor key performance indicators for commentary and dissemination to the team.
  • Gather, interpret, and synthesize Retail Link data (and other customer data systems) to support the development of fact-based category development plans, promotional evaluation, new item launch support and delivery of annual business objectives.
  • Address ad-hoc data requirements to support urgent account, macro business, segment, and brand issues
  • Work closely with the sales strategy director to develop insights that drive results in collaboration with the customer sales team.
  • Support the NAM's with analysis and fact-based information to support key strategic initiatives.
  • Work with Sales strategy and the customer teams to develop concise presentations to provide context and rationale for actionable business solutions such as innovation/product development and assortment and promotional planning.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency of data usage, develop new reporting scorecards and best practices.
  • Additional duties as required; this may include some administrative duties as necessary

What you have to do to get here.

  • Recent experience, (within the past 3 years) working knowledge of and capability in the Walmart Retail Link system, Loblaws Data Portal and other retailer systems is preferred as well as use of syndicated data sources e.g., Nielsen, IRI
  • Post-Secondary degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Research, Statistics or Advanced Analytics
  • Experience in CPG from either manufacturer or supplier side is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple competing demands without compromise in quality. Exceptional time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, slicers, and formulas to automate and contribute to reports.
  • Highly analytical, organized, and self-motivated individual with an ability to draw insights from multiple data sources.
  • Positive, curious, creative, and innovative thinker with the ability to energize and influence
  • Story telling skills using data/analysis.
  • Experience working with syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, etc.) is an asset.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
