About this role:
Cogir is seeking for a legal counsel with a minimum of 3 years of experience to complete its legal team, composed of 6 other professionals and support staff. Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal Affairs, the Legal Counsel will be called upon to provide legal support and advice to the business units in their day to day operations, namely in the sectors of real estate law, commercial and transactional matters, supply contracts, regulatory matters, especially in relation residences for seniors, with or without care, commercial and residential leasing, construction law.
Specifically, your daily life with us will look like :
Provide timely legal advice and support to business units;
Review and negotiate agreements for acceptability and compliance with company standards, policies and procedures;
Handle all leasing matters for the retail components of the portfolio with oversight/assistance as required;
Provide transactional assistance/support on M&A transactions - due diligence, disclosure schedules, preparing LOIs, etc.
Manage and create precedents and standard form site-level agreements;
Conduct and oversee the handling of commercial dispute;
Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality and integrity.
Assessing, evaluating and reporting on the risks associated with agreements and transactions.

Required qualifications :
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house counsel position and be a member in good standing of the Ontario Bar (in combination to another provincial bar is an asset)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
