Job Summary:

Under the direction and guidance of the Vice President, Specialized Claims and Recovery Services, the Senior Director has corporate responsibility for the vision, direction, and leadership of the Division where the scale and scope of the mandate is such that it presents high risk for the organization or impacts the organization's financial position.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  1. Promote the vision and values of the organization.
  2. Ensure that management and employees of the Division understand and share the vision and values and that the plans and activities of the Division are fully aligned and in support of them.
  3. Reporting to the Vice President, participate in the development of a shared vision for the Division adhering to the principles of modern controllership.
  4. Assist in the engagement of the management team in delivering that vision through the development and execution of the annual business plan and divisional goals and objectives.
  5. Provide leadership and direction in the management and delivery of programs and services, ensuring required programs and policies, and standards and performance expectations are established, and service levels are maintained.
  6. Support quality management and continuous improvement programs as established evaluate the effectiveness and cost-benefit of services and programs.
  7. Reporting to the Vice President, participate in the planning of the financial, physical and human assets of the Division including the annual operating and capital budgets.
  8. Ensure effective organization, resourcing, and management of human resources within the reporting line.
  9. Ensure effective health and safety management systems and programs are developed, implemented, and monitored.
  10. Build and maintain active interaction and dialogue and constructive working relationships with other WSIB leaders and employees to assess and discuss business and organizational issues, their implications and potential solutions, and to promote an effective team approached to the attainment of corporate goals and objectives.
  11. Act as a senior expert providing functional leadership and technical expertise to Vice Presidents and to Directors on matters relating to professional area of expertise and divisional initiatives and activities.
  12. Participate as a member of the senior management committee in the review, planning, development, and implementation of Board-wide initiatives, strategies, and programs, creating trust and exemplifying teamwork and the values of the organization.
  13. Provide sponsorship to and/or manage inter-divisional projects on behalf of the organization at large and ensure they are successful and achieve the outcomes required to support the overall strategy of the organization.
  14. Establish and maintain effective relationships with appropriate external contractors or business partners, such as other workers' compensation boards, government agencies, stakeholders and industry groups and organizations as directed by the Vice President.
Job Requirements:

Education (Level and Specialty / Discipline): Undergraduate university degree and significant experience in developing and delivering programs

Experience (Years of Related Experience and Type of Experience): 10+ years of progressively more responsible leadership and management positions in a large complex organization dealing with insurance and/or disability management and/or public sector management and services. Public sector experience preferred and/or experience working in large organizations with exposure to varied stakeholders.
