The Manitoba Métis Federation(MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as theManitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederationand the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill onefull-time Director of Michif Language position located in Winnipeg, MB . Reporting to the Chief OperatingOfficer, and under the leadership of the Minister of French and Michif LanguageProtection, the Director of Michif Language creates, plans, directs, andoversees the Michif Language Unit to ensure that established goals andobjectives are accomplished in accordance with prescribed priorities, budgetaryguidelines, and work plan activities.

Job Duties/Competencies:

· Developmentand implementation of a Michif Language Unit including programs and servicesintended to achieve the strategic plans and priorities set by the Cabinet;

· Overalladministrative, financial and program management of the Unit, including budgetcreation and direct supervision of administrative staff;

· Providethe Chief Operating Officer and the Minister with regular reports and updateson operations, partnership negotiations, compliance to contracts and financesfor the Michif Language programs and services;

· Collaborateand partner with other departments, affiliates, MMF Regions, educationalinstitutions and external stakeholders;

· Liaisewith provincial and federal government officials; and,

· Manage and implement Canadian Heritage FundingAgreement, and other funding agreements as negotiated.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, SocialSciences, Business Administration, or a related field of study;

· Previousexperience in a leadership role with emphasis on current management and humanresource practices, communications, research, and program development;

· Demonstratedorganizational, financial, and administrative management skills;

· Demonstratedability to supervise staff;

· Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills, in addition, experience withpresentations;

· Proficientin proposal preparation;

· Proficiencyin either Michif and/or French language will be considered an asset;

· Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMFprograms and services is a definite asset; and,

· Abilityto travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
