Job Description

Our client in the food manufacturing industry is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join their team in Sudbury, ON. The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for supporting the production team by implementing and ensuring adherence to Human Resources policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will span across employee relations, health and safety, recruitment, training, and attendance management.

Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as a liaison between Operations, Talent and Development teams, and all team members, including those from placement agencies.
  2. Collaborate with leadership to strategize growth initiatives within the Talent and Development team.
  3. Manage communication with employment agencies and facilitate relationships between operations leaders and team members.
  4. Oversee the implementation of policies, protocols, and new initiatives, ensuring effective communication.
  5. Work closely with the Health and Safety team to cultivate a culture of safety through participation in training and committee meetings.
  6. Coordinate recruitment efforts, including resume review and interview coordination, to fulfill key positions.
  7. Collaborate with managers to assess current and future staffing needs.
  8. Track and manage requests from temporary employment agencies.
  9. Maintain training documentation for key roles and support in resolving issues in collaboration with stakeholders.
  10. Assist in progressive discipline processes and participate in performance reviews.
  11. Drive team member engagement and spearhead initiatives for improvement.
  12. Ensure compliance with health and safety laws and regulations through proactive measures.
  13. Coach leaders in fostering effective communication and safety behaviors on the production floor.
  14. Conduct safety evaluations, self-audits, and run site safety committee and ergonomics programs.
  15. Support incident investigation and resolution, providing recommendations for preventative measures.
  16. Attend Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings as an Advisor.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of six years of experience in a similar role.
  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Proficiency in HR policies, procedures, benefits, and labor relations.
  • Strong skills in MS Office and HR information systems.
  • Previous experience in Health and Safety initiatives, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated management experience.
