Position Description

As a critical member of the Project Management Office, the successful candidate for this position will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, conducting material take-offs and ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. Construction Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received and work with the Project Manager to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business.

Responsibilities:

1. Bid Administration
2. Review and understand engineered drawings
3. Determine construction methodology and work breakdown structure to best complete the project
4. Determine sequential activities to create a construction schedule
5. Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors
6. Prepare subcontractor bid packages

Project Knowledge:

• Have a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned
• Develops RFI's and clarifications to clients for further required knowledge to build offer

Follow-up & Closing:

1. Consistently follow up on submitted bids and budgets with Project Manager/Supervisor to close business
2. Determine lessons learned from the existing process and feedback from clients

Position Requirements:

• Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certification in estimating is an asset
• Bid 2 Win or bid software experience and training is an asset
• Experience in estimating bridge construction is an asset
• Post-secondary certificate, diploma or designation in a related field
