Robot programmer is responsible for designing and installing controller system software for manufacturing facilities, and analyzing system requirements, writing, and installing custom programmable logic code, testing system efficiency, and providing operational support.
Responsibilities:
- Developing PLC and HMI code based on department standards.
- Adapting standard PLC and HMI code to new applications.
- Debugging and troubleshooting PLC-based control system issues.
- Performing control system testing, Loop checks, I/O verifications and commissioning.
- Coordination of PLC programs with control systems and mechanical design.
- Ability to read and understand programming documentation, electrical schematics & mechanical drawings (P&IDs).
- Provide input of hardware selection for new systems and potential system upgrades.
- Identify potential hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with applicable site standards.
- Ability to program Logic Shutdown utilizing safety matrix.
Skills and Responsibilities:
- 3+ years work related experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Technical Certification in robot programming preferred
- Good understanding of mechanical systems
- Knowledge of MIG and spot welding
- Ability to read schematics and other drawings
- Self-motivated and hands-on
- Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of at least one of the following robot systems (Fanuc, ABB, Motoman)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications
