Job SummaryThe Officer, Engineering Capacity is responsible for leading the Engineering work blocks. Furthermore, the role is accountable for providing system support with a high-level focus on ensuring the best operational windows with the least amount of impact are planned for the network. The role works with all departments to help the Engineering team achieve the desired times requested. The incumbent is required to analyze situations and be able to develop advanced planning coordinating discussions within multiple departments on a system level. The role has a high focus on basic and special capital programs ensuring that a solid plan is made and the high-profile programs are completed and successful on an operational and Engineering basis.Main ResponsibilitiesWork Block Coordination· Plan, coordinate and execute work blocks required to deliver Engineering's basic, zone and special capital plans system wide· Ensure rules of train adjustments and capacity for track time of each route is manageable by working with Transportation, Service Design, Passenger Services, and the Rail Traffic Control Centre (RTCC)· Coordinate and plan Mega Blocks for the system including building and maintaining the inter-region Gant charts, identifying conflicts and solutions to ensure the best operational success is met· Leverage data to identify trends and opportunities· Chair cross-functional conference calls to obtain sign-off from high-level representatives from Operations, Service Design and Engineering· Maintain high-level reports and provide details and historic files regarding work blocks when required· Coordinate track time between Engineering functions across the network· Plan and identify possible conflicts within Engineering functions and host weekly maintenance calls as well as provide weekly and daily reports outlining maintenance and major programs to occur within a 30-day basis· Communicate with Network Operations, regional Rail Traffic Control (RTC) offices, Service Design as well as all functions within the Engineering ranks in an effort to ensure collaboration towards common targets and goals· Maintain and handle communications with the Kaleitics Dynamic Productivity Matrix (DPM) program for work blocks· Provide high-level presentations to Business Communications when requestedSupervise and Cover for the Manager Network Engineering Operations· Provide coverage to the Manager Network Engineering Operations when required· Supervise the Network Engineering Operations (NEO) team· Coordinate information for mainline derailments, outages, and incidents, escalate critical information within Engineering, and manage material car movement response across all functions· Handle administration duties for the department in conjunction with the ManagerWorking ConditionsThe role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. When providing coverage for the Manager, Engineering Network Operations the role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences.
