Field-based Geoscientist (5-month contract position)

Join our Western Groundwater Team on a temporary 5-month contract. The successful applicant will be involved in an Alaskan based field program with responsibilities as follows:
- Active participation in maintaining Matrix's strong safety culture
- Assist with the field coordination and execution of the field program
- Support execution of well installations, water sampling, packer testing, and instrumentation installation
- Manage logistics, shipping and material management for the field program
- In-field data collection and preliminary analysis
- Travel as required to support field programs – this role will be 100% of time being spent in the field with two weeks on and two weeks off rotation from late May to early October 2024
Willingness to work a contract-hourly position for a 5-month period, with the possibility to transition to full time or in geology, hydrogeology, or a B. Eng in geological engineering or another applicable field. Minimum 2 years of related experience in well testing packer testing, pumping tests, injection tests etc. Comfortable working around heavy machinery. Comfortable living in remote locations and in a work camp. Ability to work with computer software as well as instrumentation software. Service orientated, with the ability to work with a diverse group of contractors and project personnel. Flexibility in being able to work on a day or night shift. Function effectively as part of a collaborative team. Service-oriented and have the ability to multi-task. Capable of problem solving in the field. Have the ability to lift up to 50lbs, and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain. A valid class 5 driver's license with no restrictions and clean driving record.
