POSITION MANDATE Provides electrical support including, but not limited to, low and high voltage power systems, controls, applications, repairs, installations, maintenance and consulting. Investigates and solves complex technical problems. Provides technical direction in support of the project installation activities. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Technical Performs assigned electrical or mechanical tasks, on-site or substation maintenance, shutdowns and commissioning efforts. Ensures accuracy of installation (inspection, testing, etc.) prior to bringing the system or equipment online. Prepares formal documentation regarding testing and commissioning processes. Provides field support including connecting systems and equipment, testing, etc. Supports the electrical aspects of projects by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and solving complex technical problems. Provides technical consultation and training to customers. oversees corrections/solutions until the problem is resolved. Performs onsite tests and assessments using available tools; Administration and Finance Supports large project quotations and tender submittals. Monitors larger project costs and customer invoicing. Researches and identifies expansion or additions to current system to enhance customers electrical processes. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE The position requires an Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or Journeyperson certificate and 3 to 10 years of experience. The quality of work, decisions made, and documentation submitted reflects the incumbent's specialist qualifications. Customers' feedback on projects and the incumbent is positive. Assigned projects or work assignments are delivered on time and on budget. The quality of the delivered work meets expectations. Suggestions for technical solutions and/or project management improvements support the achievement of project outcomes. Compliance with relevant policies, procedures, standards and practices, legislation and codes meet expectations. JOB SCOPE Provides expert electrical advice and services on projects or at customer locations. Requires extensive knowledge and applied skill in dealing with complex technical problems or requirements, and often mentors others in technical matters. Possesses extensive experience and capability gained through in-depth involvement in electrical assignments and can use this expertise to function independently and proficiently on TPS customer sites or within a TPS department. Routinely addresses situations where the problem is clear, but the solution is not and is expected to apply a broad knowledge of processes specific to their field to resolve them. Acts as an internal consultant to managers and leaders where recommendations can influence project or program direction and performance. Planning often involves coordination of service delivery through others, and integration of service delivery across departments, requiring the establishment of numerous, strong working relations. Juggles multiple projects, details, and deadlines. Provides guidance or work direction to individuals on projects including assigning work to others and monitoring to ensure that established goals are achieved.
