Performing routine laboratory tasks in support of all analytical chemists including operation of rotovaps, soxhlets, manifolds and other laboratory equipment; Recording accurate and complete routine data on work-up sheets to provide a complete legal history of the samples. Become proficient within one or more of the lab groups – Sample Prep, Extraction, Cleanup, LC and Technical Group. Maintaining a clean lab environment to preserve the integrity of samples. Training and mentoring of peers in methods and standard operating procedures. Following SOPs and completing required training parameters. Following correct methods and procedures to provide quality output and ensure SGS AXYS maintains its related accreditations and in compliance with QA protocols and policies. Being well organized and anticipating how they will handle their work flow, which is often sporadic and may require flexibility when equipment is not immediately available or production volumes are not consistent. Balancing speed with accurate, high quality work to meet production schedules. Responsibilities also include controlling sample integrity to ensure accuracy of analyzed routine samples, expediting information transfer to other staff/departments and maintaining lab and equipment in a clean and organized manner. Accountable for the Health, Safety and Environment of personnel and the enforcement of all regulations as per the Company Health and Safety Manual, and the immediate reporting of any health, safety or environmental incidents, accidents or concerns to the Manager / Supervisor and H&S department for action. Knowledge of good laboratory practices, ex. Technical Diploma or BSc. in Chemistry or related science Willingness to participate in flexible work schedules (including evenings and weekends); Candidates must be proficient in using several types of computer software (Word, Excel. Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment. Candidates must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills in English including grammar and composition. Ensures full compliance with the company's Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
