Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Saskatoon, SK, with the flexibility for some remote work. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Intermediate Mechanical Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the design, analysis, and documentation of structural projects, utilizing technical expertise and advanced software tools to contribute to project success. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers and technologists to develop detailed drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for mechanical systems and components.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create accurate and high-quality technical drawings and models based on design specifications and project requirements.
  • Assist in the selection of materials, components, and equipment for mechanical systems, considering factors such as performance, cost, and availability.
  • Support prototype development and testing activities, assisting in the fabrication, assembly, and evaluation of mechanical prototypes.
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations and simulations to verify design feasibility and performance under various operating conditions.
  • Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and interdisciplinary discussions to address design issues and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and project documentation, documenting design changes, test results, and project milestones.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical drafting, design, or engineering, preferably in a consulting or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
  • Strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical systems and technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prior experience with prototype development, testing, and validation is desirable.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in mechanical design, testing, and implementation.

Key Knowledge & Experience

4+ years of experience are required for this position. Experience working in the consulting field with practice in design, drafting and 3D CAD is essential. Heavy industrial exposure would also be an asset, especially in the area of mining and, more specifically, potash mining.

Specialized experience in the following software would also be considered an asset; AutoCAD (2D and 3D), Inventor, Microsoft Access & Office, and VBA. Other programming expertise would be very beneficial.

Salary Range

$75,000 - $107,000
