Position Title: Solution Architect Location: Downtown Toronto or Windsor THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL This position of IT Architect will be accountable for evolving our architecture practice and developing robust solutions across the entire architecture domain including application, data, and infrastructure architecture. The IT Architect will report to the Director, Enterprise Architecture in the following capacities:Develop and lead architecture best practices across the organization, partner with key stakeholders across IT and the business as required. Design and/or maintain conceptual architecture models based on high level requirements from technical and business stakeholders. Advise on enterprise architecture landscape, including technology, information, data, security, and integration. Evaluate and identify IT-related risks. Develop technology strategy and planning deliverables to address IT risks and improve the effectiveness of the IT organization. Help formulate the overall solution strategies and roadmaps. Provide support in building business case with TCO and ROI calculations. Responsible to estimate the work effort required to support the TCO and ROI calculation. Develop and document IT solution architecture in relation to projects. Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure that technology decisions and blueprints align with the overall system architecture. Contribute actively to the Architecture Review Board. Provide technical guidance and support to build/development/project teams. Facilitate and/or contribute to technical/business solution discussions for technical and non-technical audiences. Conduct research: Technology assessments that select, compare and rate a short list of candidate technologies against a set of business requirements. Strategic assessments of technologies and trends to develop strategic technology roadmaps. Tactical research such as monitoring product lifecycle changes and making recommendations regarding replacement or upgrade options. Conduct product evaluations and/or develop proof of concept on new products and concepts. Develop guidelines that are compliant with industry standards and/or best practices for technology/system implementations. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to various audiences. Who We're Looking For University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Minimum of 7 years of Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, IT Architect or Lead Developer experience in complex technical environments. Strong experience in implementing Architecture standards, Governance frameworks (like TOGAF/Zachman) & Technical Debt Management. Expertise in working with senior business and technology leaders to ensure technology and business areas understand the architectural options and technology choices in support of their business initiatives. Experience with Agile development and CI/CD methodologies, including supporting platforms such as Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Jenkins or Jira. Experience designing and/or working with microservices architecture, including API gateways and/or service mesh. Experience architecting robust and cost-effective solutions for both public cloud and on-premises hosting. Specific experience with Microsoft Azure or GCP. Leadership experience in supporting projects end to end will be required. Working hand in hand with Project Managers to guide the project to successful implementation is required. Proven experience in conceptual architecture and design. Demonstrated ability to work at an analytical and abstract level. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
