The salary scale for Professional Support 2 is based on twelve steps that range from $58,639.38 - $81,978.79. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $70,397.86 annually.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in a related field such as Adult Education, Social Services or Humanities.
  • You have a minimum of three years (full-time equivalent) of related occupational experience with disability related issues in a post-secondary environment.
  • Project Management certification would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of and skill in interviewing techniques and professional boundaries, including confidentiality and consent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning and student development principles.

  • Project management and leadership experience.

  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail.

  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Student Accessibility Services within the Libraries and Learning Commons department, you will work with NSCC Student Accessibility Services to undertake research, identify gaps and barriers, and develop recommendations for a sustainable model to improve the transition-in experience for student with disabilities from high school to the post-secondary College environment.

You will partner with stakeholders in high schools to identify students with disabilities to participate in the transition program, undertake engagement and outreach activities, and provide support in all activities to aid with a seamless transition to the College.

You will consult with internal and external partners to inform research and recommendations, including, but not limited to NSCC Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), NSCC Admissions, Post-Secondary Accessibility Services and P-12 and community partners.

Additional Information

As a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete a two-year (part-time) adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period. Term full-time Professional Support employees whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
