Select a job title to view the description and apply online Scientist - Predictive Care & Knowledge Translation The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics is hiring world-leading specialists to transform our understanding of mental health by organizing, integrating, analyzing, visualizing and modelling data across all levels of the brain —from genes to circuits to behaviour. This multimodal data is gathered across the clinical environment including genetic, epigenetic, MRI, DTI, fMRI, hd-EEG, actigraphy and electronic medical record data. Teams will employ state-of-the-art techniques including topological data analysis, machine learning and multiscale computational modeling to accelerate identification and treatment of mental health disorders. Research is performed in an open, team science environment, with an emphasis on reproducible data-driven research and a patient-centric approach. A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment. The centre will operate as an incubator for medical technologies to identify, manage and treat mental illness, while shaping policy at national and global levels. The Scientist for Predictive Care & Knowledge Translation will build and lead a team of talented interdisciplinary researchers who focus on the emerging opportunities and risks presented by Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning in mental health care settings. The team will investigate how human actors interact with and adopt AI in real-world settings and explore the concepts and roles of 'fairness' as it applies to data, ML and implementation. You have expertise in predictive care analytics, social science approaches to technological innovation, social change and implementation. You will collaborate with world class research scientists and be afforded with necessary computational resources to expedite scientific discovery through computational & data mining approaches. You will be required to establish local, national, and international collaborations, provide practical supervision of undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral trainees, and technical staff. As a Scientist, you will be expected to lead research activities, maintain an active publication record, and secure extramural funding sources for those activities. You will also disseminate research results through presentations at academic meetings and conferences and communicate ideas to key decision makers. CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and the successful applicant will need to obtain academic affiliation with a university department at the Assistant Professor level. Leading a team of interdisciplinary researchers and students your responsibilities include designing, implementing, and validating research studies by; Collaborating with data scientists, psychiatrics, nurses and bioethicists, to examine how we define conceptualize and problematize care within psychiatric care settings. Providing oversight and leadership with respect to emerging approaches to predictive care in mental health contexts. Draw on social theory to analyze and interpret your results, and consider both the social and ethical implications of these emerging technologies. Evaluate the design and implementation of predictive care systems from a range of perspectives, including patients, providers and staff. Working within an Integrated Knowledge Translation framework, support the adoption and equitable delivery of predictive care systems into psychiatric care environments. Work closely with and incorporating results from a team that is building a knowledge representation and reasoning framework. Support the Knowledge Translation of the result into educational initiatives designed to support inter-professional training and education in AI; PhD in Medical Anthropology, Science and Technology Studies, Nursing, Bioethics or a related field; Three (3) years of relevant post-doctoral experience plus two (2) years of independent research and leading teams, mentoring scientists and managing inter-dependent research projects. Experience in predictive care designed for mental health contexts. Must obtain an academic appointment with the University of Toronto (appointment must remain active). Experience in fostering collaborations between diverse research and clinical groups (both internally and externally). Track record that demonstrates competence in publishing in high impact peer reviewed journals, obtaining funding from various sources, disseminating research at formal scientific meetings, and participation in the education and supervision of students and trainees. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
