Qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in business administration, a social or physical science, public administration, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Extensive experience working in a capacity to improve the lives of Indigenous people through policies, programs and initiatives
  • Proven ability as a leader with a commitment to create, support and sustain a diverse environment that enables staff to achieve results and to develop for the future
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage opportunities for innovation, find creative solutions to issues, and successfully manage change
  • Superior interpersonal skills for the purposes of building and maintaining positive and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners, as well as community and First Nation leadership, with the ability to successfully facilitate, collaborate and build consensus amongst parties that have competing interests
  • Management experience with responsibility for human and financial resources
  • Experience translating strategic priorities into clear operational and business plans, and experience with strategic performance management and measurement systems (e.g. Key Performance Indicators, Balanced Scorecards)
  • Advanced written communication skills for the purposes of drafting, reviewing, and editing a wide variety of documents and correspondence
  • Highly developed political acumen for the purposes of navigating and resolving highly sensitive and contentious issues through the use of diplomacy and tact
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial management
  • Experience implementing the principles of reconciliation

Duties:

As a member of the department's management team, the Executive Director is responsible to lead and manage the Lands and Resources Office, provide advice and support to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Reconciliation Secretariat, other Assistant Deputy Ministers across government and departmental staff across government.


The Executive Director will be responsible for developing strategic and reconciliation advice and coordination across numerous departments using an Indigenous reconciliation lens and with the mandate to foster positive partnerships and relationships between Manitoba and Indigenous communities.
